Route 2 Redevelopment | 2019
An existing building that has been vacant for over thirty years is the site of a new commercial development. The existing building frame will be retained and 10,000 square feet will be added to form an L-shaped structure. The exterior will be simply clad in various colors of block and metal. There are two design elements that will give the building a presence on the site. The first is a glazed tower that will be highly visible from the street and provide a place for signage. At night it will glow to catch the eye of cars on Route 2. The second is a billboard style façade facing the cars as they enter the parking area. It will provide a continuously changing series of images to entice shoppers.Location : Montpelier, Vermont
